Write and Speak day!

Monday 13 March, students were introduced to another learning camp called write and speak day. Aviation business, sales and marketing and tourism students were divided into mixed groups to conduct various workshops.

Colorful Pia explained and demonstrated that all future managers require to hold an appreciation of the stage. This will enforce the audience’s upmost attention. We need to be happy with ourselves and what we’re trying to deliver. If we come across unengaging, the audience too will feel disengaged to listen.

Smiling Annika delivered information about referencing. Throughout the semester, I believed my referencing for university was correct. Luckily for this class, Annika conducted a quick assessment to ensure my writing material complies in accordance with Haaga-Helia writing guidelines. I believe referencing is my detriment. If I pay attention to detail with referencing, I can focus on other areas of my education.

Olav presented a lesson of English writing to all students from Aviation business and tourism. The school is observing continuous mistakes with the basic use of the English grammar. To ensure I am a suitable candidate for a company in the near future, I must pay attention to the rules of grammar. It’s even hard for people with English as their mother tongue, but I feel for the people who are Finnish, have a complicating language already and have to follow twisted rules of another language…... good luck guys!

The final lesson of the day was with amazing Ivan! Ivan has an amazing way of talking to people and can lighten the mood. The topic was how to write a report. Throughout the semester, students have been allowed to write assessments and tasks as they like. Ivan explained all final assessments for this semester will be conducted in accordance to Haaga-Helia writing guidelines. Throughout the semester, myself and others took it upon ourselves to start using these tools from start. It has allowed me to feel confident about how a report should be written and understand how it must be detailed.
